Overview

  • Do Dham Yatra is a spiritual journey that allows you to visit two holy temples, Kedarnath and Badrinath.
  • These temples are situated in the beautiful Garhwal Himalayas of Uttarakhand, India.
    This pilgrimage is a chance for devotees to receive blessings and strengthen their connection with their faith.
  • It is believed that going on a Do Dham Yatra can wash all your sins away and set you on the path of salvation.
  • Kedarnath and Badrinath temples are dedicated to Lord Shiva and Lord Vishnu, respectively.
  • Kedarnath is particularly special as it is the highest point in the world where one of the twelve holy jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva is worshiped.
  • Badrinath Temple, on the other hand, is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is highly revered by Hindus. It is an important pilgrimage site and attracts a large number of devotees every year.
  • The entire Do Dham Yatra usually takes around 5 to 6 days to complete.

Itinerary

  • The most awaited Do Dham Yatra starts as you arrive at Haridwar. You will be picked up from a place near Haridwar Railway station at 8 AM.
  • As we make our way towards Sitapur, we will make a special stop at Devprayag Sangam. Devprayag is where two rivers, Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, come together to make the Ganges. This place is very important in Hindu religion, and people believe that taking a dip in the water can wash away their sins.
  • After this spiritual experience, we will take a break to enjoy a delicious lunch. (at own cost)
  • Our next destination is the Dhari Devi temple, which is renowned for its breathtaking beauty and spiritual significance. Located on the banks of the Alaknanda river, this temple is dedicated to the Goddess Dhari, who is believed to protect the region from natural calamities.
  • Continuing on our journey towards Sitapur, we will arrive at this spiritually significant place.
  • Once we reach Sitapur You can either go and see the beautiful sights in Sitapur, or rest up for your mountain trek.
    Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel, have our dinner, and spend the night.

  • We will check out from the hotel at 4:30 AM after having an early morning breakfast.
  • You can leave any extra luggage at the designated location provided by us.
  • We will begin walking from Sitapur to reach Sonprayag, and upon arrival, we can take local taxis to reach Gaurikund. There might be a wait time of 2-3 hours in the taxi queue.
  • Once we reach gaurikund, we can take the opportunity to seek blessings at the Gauri temple and then take a refreshing dip in the Tapat Kund.
  • The Kedarnath trek covers a distance of 18 km on foot and typically takes between 8 to 12 hours to complete (you can choose pony or palanquin rides at your own cost)
  • During the trek to Kedarnath, we will come across several rest stops where we can take a break and replenish our energy. These stops offer a variety of food options such as Maggi, Paratha, tea, snacks, and more, although they are often sold at a higher price than usual.
  • Once we reach Kedarnath, we will have the opportunity to participate in the evening aarti, which is usually held between 6-7 pm. If time permits, we can also seek blessings at the Kedarnath temple. (The temple is situated at an altitude of around 3,583 meters above sea level and is considered to be one of the most sacred places in Hinduism.)
  • After having darshan at the temple, you will check into the hotel, have dinner, and spend the night there.

  • To ensure we have enough time for darshan, our plan is to wake up before dawn and arrive at the temple by 4-5 am. This will ensure that we can join the darshan queue early, which typically takes 2-3 hours.
  • Once we enter the temple, we can attend the morning aarti, which is a significant ritual and a must-attend for all devotees visiting Kedarnath.
  • Following darshan, we’ll visit Bheem Shila, a massive rock that reportedly saved the Kedarnath temple during the catastrophic flash floods of June 16, 2013.
  • Our next destination is the Guru Shankaracharya Samadhi, a spiritual site located behind the Kedarnath temple, named after the great philosopher and theologian, Adi Shankaracharya.
  • Additionally, we will also explore the Bhukund Bhairavnath Temple, located just 500 meters away from the Kedarnath temple. This ancient temple is dedicated to Lord Bhairav, who is revered as a fierce manifestation of Lord Shiva.
  • After our morning excursions, we will return to our hotel for breakfast and complete the check-out process by 10 am.
  • Our next adventure involves a trek to Gaurikund, which typically takes around 6-8 hours. Once we reach Gaurikund, we will join the taxi queue to travel to Sonprayag (The queue may take around 1-2 hours).
  • Once we reach Sonprayag, we will continue on foot to reach Sitapur.
    As we arrive at the hotel in Sitapur we can have our dinner and spend the night there.

  • Attractions: Kedarnath, Adi Shankaracharya Samadhi, Bhukund Bhairavnath Temple
  • After having breakfast at the Sitapur hotel, we will depart from Sitapur at 7 am.
  • The exact route we take will depend on the traffic conditions and can either be via Chopta or Rudraprayag.
  • During the journey, we will pass through various notable places, including Rudraprayag/Chopta, Karanprayag, and Nandaprayag.
    Rudraprayag is one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River. It is confluence of the rivers Alaknanda and Mandakini.
  • We aim to reach Badrinath around 7-10 pm. Upon arrival, we will check into our hotel. If time permits, we can take the opportunity to have darshan at the Badrinath temple.
    The temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is one of the most important pilgrimage sites for Hindus.
  • Afterward, we will have dinner and spend the night at the hotel in Badrinath.

  • Attractions : Rudraprayag/Chopta, Karanprayag, Nandaprayag, Badrinath temple
  • You can choose to take a dip in the Tapt Kund, a natural hot water spring near the Badrinath temple. It is believed that bathing in these waters can cleanse one’s sins.
  • We will then join the darshan queue at the temple early in the morning, around 4-5 am, to ensure we have ample time for darshan. The morning darshan is considered highly auspicious and attracts a large number of devotees.
  • After darshan, we will have breakfast at the hotel and proceed to check out from our rooms.
  • Our next stop is Mana Gaav, which is known as the first village of India. In Mana Gaav, we will visit various attractions such as Bheem Pul, (a bridge associated with the Pandava warrior Bheem), Saraswati River, Vyas Gufa (cave), Ganesh Gufa, and the first tea shop of India.
  • We will spend approximately one hour for sightseeing in Mana Gaav before departing from Badrinath. It is important to leave Badrinath by 9 am at the latest to ensure a smooth journey back to Haridwar.
  • We will drive back to Haridwar, and escort you to your drop point and the trip will end here.
  • At this point, the trip will come to an end, leaving you with cherished memories and a sense of fulfillment from the spiritual journey to Kedarnath and Badrinath.
